The Order of St. George takes its inspiration from the ancient and honorable Christian Order of Knighthood founded in 1326 by King Károly.
As well as being the Patron Saint of England (and many other countries) St. George is revered by Christians throughout the Middle East, and is also the Patron Saint of soldiers. Our charity takes its lead from this heritage. Charitable causes we support include the Royal Hospital Chelsea and the 3rd Battalion of the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment Welfare Fund (our affiliated Regiment). We are particularly proud of our links with the Coptic community in Egypt, and with St. George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad.
“The Order of St George promotes and pursues the timeless traditions of chivalry by compassion and supporting works of charity. The Order focuses on supporting charities which work with current and former service personnel, youth organizations within the UK and with Christian communities suffering religious persecution.”
Members of The Order sustain its work directly by means of an annual subscription, by voluntary donations, and by actively engaging in charitable activities – large or small.
We welcome into membership ladies and gentlemen who wish to be involved in improving the lives of others.
The aim of the International Knightly Order Valiant of St George is to promote and pursue the timeless traditions of chivalry by compassion and supporting works of charity. The Order focuses on supporting charities working with services personnel and with communities suffering religious persecution.
The Order of St George is a Confraternal Order of Christian Knighthood, with our main charitable aim being to provide aid to persecuted Christian Communities in the Middle East, particularly to the Anglican Church of St George in Baghdad, and the Coptic Christians of Egypt – both communities coming under very literal siege from fundamentalist elements in those countries.
The Order is open to both men and women of any Trinitarian Christian denomination, who have made significant contributions to humanity or achieved the pinnacle of success in their fields of endeavor.
The Order raises funds for these causes primarily through social events. There is one Investiture for the reception of new Companions, Knights and Dames each year.
